A classic. Nike: Write the future

This is something that no matter how many times you see, you're just going to feel the excitement... the possibilities, the power of you over your 'fate'. A massive hit from Nike. So of course it had to win at the Cannes '11. Of course it ran a long time before the contest began.

Hegarty on his lifetime achievement at Cannes '11

Sir John Hegarty is one of the legends of advertising. Half a century into this business, he has created unforgettable camapaigns, more recently the 'Keep Walking' campaign for Johnny Walker. Tight-lipped ad critiques will probably rate Ogilvy, Bernbach and the likes on top, but I always had a soft corner for Hegarty, even though he's an art guy.

Tham Kai Meng on creativity

The worldwide creative director of such an illustrious agency like Ogilvy comes up with not one sheet with dozens of 'idea boxes' but about 30 or so for each campgain! I don't sketch out even one tenth of that amount...i realised that as a copywriter my saving grace may not be the two word 'big-idea' jazz anymore

Failure. A matter of pride

Among all the advertising agencies out there, W+K have an interesting creative pedigree. Some of their best work include the classic Nike commercials. Failing harder is a matter of pride. It doesn't matter if you fail. If you tried hard enough, that's all that counts.
